Help for my wife - 09-13-2011, 10:40 AM

Hello ladies, my wife weighs 140lbs and she is 5'2. She wants to loose 25-30 lbs in a few months. Is this possible to do in a semi healthy way? Also I would be interested of the minimum amount of cals that she can eat while still toning and tightening. Any advice will be very much appreciated.

I'd say 2000cals a day is pretty OK, in my opinion anything under that is a bit more like starving yourself.

I'm not agree about the 2000cals . I would start at 1600 cals and go from there. She has only 140lbs and she's a woman, definitely should eat less than that.

I would agree, this is a good starting point.

Thanks, I think she's going to stay around 1000-1300, what do you think?

I would put her on a 50p/30c/20f ratio diet for 8 weeks and see how she does. Around 1500-1800 calories per day split in 5-7 meals. Also cardio is a must as well as weight training for optimal results.

I wouldn't go below 1200 to 1400. If you calculate that she wants to be 110 to 115 lbs you need to eat 10 to 12 cal per lbs to lose weight without the body shutting down and thinking it is starving. At inactive women weighting 110 lbs needs about 1400 cal per day to maintain their weight. If she is on the low side I would have had do a cheat day one day a weeks to confuse her body.

But IMO 1400-1600 a day for the long haul is better than than starving at 1200 and giving up out of frustration. Only my opinion.
