Some food for thought. I do find a couple problems with this study though.

#1, High estrogen levels has been link to prostate cancer. This test never tested the free estrogen levels of these men, only their free testosterone.

#2, The study shows that 111 out of 759 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer that had high levels of testosterone, where figures from the U.S. show that the average male has a one in five chance of developing prostate cancer during his lifetime. So wouldn't it seem like that men with high testosterone levels actually have fewer incidences of prostate cancer?

High Testosterone Raises Cancer Risk

United Press International

BALTIMORE, May 09, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Men over 50 years of age with high blood levels of testosterone have an increased risk of prostate cancer, according to a U.S. study.

The study by researchers at Johns Hopkins and the National Institute on Aging throws some doubt on the safety of testosterone replacement therapy, the investigators said.

The researchers measured several forms of testosterone in nearly 3,000 blood samples collected over a 40-year period from 759 men in the Baltimore Longitudinal Study on Aging, of whom 111 were diagnosed with prostate cancer.

One form of testosterone, called free testosterone, which is biologically active and can actually be used by the prostate, was found to be associated with increased prostate cancer risk, according to J. Kellogg Parsons, M.D., instructor of urology at the Brady Urological Institute at Johns Hopkins and lead researcher of the study.
