I have a backer that said he likes my idea.

If I show him a good business plan, he is in.

NOw, where would one get the raw material to make the products (pre and post workout, creatine products, vitamins, amino acids, flavoring for the products).

Jugs and labels are taken care of....they are an eye catcher on the shelves

Those connections are gold. You've got a high probability of getting screwed a bunch of times until you find the right vendors, in my experience.

Good raw material testing is a must, and expensive.

Alibaba.com is a good place to start if you want actual wholesale, unless you want all USA made, then you will just have to start searching the web and making phone calls

I hope your backer has $3-5 million that he's ready to put into this endeavor. The only 2 thing that makes a modern supplement company successful is massive amounts of advertising and sponsorship, and a good tasting flavoring system. Whether or not you use quality raw ingredients or the product even does anything efficacious doesn't make any difference anymore. The supplement business is driven solely by hype, marketing and advertising; and those things are very expensive.

well, ill agree it's all marketing and sponsorship. the law that states spokesmen must use the product they are marketing is B.S. and most of all brands are owned by ltd, lp, or inc. and are insured and bonded. most otc supplement co's are based in utah (supplement capital). all have bogus outrageous claims with "clinical studies" by private institutions "research & marketing firms) & colleges.

better off resourcing from over sees in vast quantities, and just use fillers since there is no regulations. as for a business plan, if you really had someone with enough backing, they would create the business model and etc.

good luck with your endeavor and you should watch bigger, stronger, faster, it has a great part about what you want to do...

no rude or smart ass intentions, just my 2¢

I think the market is over-saturated unless you want to venture into the grey area of chemical analogs of banned substances. I would try sourcing things like anavar but with an acetate ester and no 17-methyl group. Sell the supplement in a sterile oil base for oral use.

It doesn't have to just be androstanes. Sildenafil analogs are very popular. Insulin secretogens like metformin (analogs) I think are an untapped possibility.

Christian egalitarianism and morality will not stop the popularity of lifestyle drugs and human performance enhancement. I dream of a day when viagra will flow like water.

The law changed in the past year or so regarding hormone analogues. Now, a drug claim is not required to ban a new substance, only a claim that it has an anabolic or other similar property to testosterone or other hormones or drugs, legal or illegal.

It used to be much more lenient, and the FDA needed to prove wrongdoing in order to shut you down. Now, they get to act first and, if they feel like it, prove wrongdoing later. If they don't feel like working that hard, they just keep your inventory indefinitely and let you go bankrupt.

I forgot about that and it's making and breaking the companies in the industry.

I'll open a strip club with u IB. It's gotta be located somewhere that allows full nude and we can still sell alcohol, though. We'll work out a deal with a local gym that has tanning beds so the girls can workout and tan for free. I have a buddy that has some contacts for girls in Brazil. We fly the girls in for a few months at a time to work in the club. They make a years income in 90 days, and we're the only club around that has super hot, big butt Brazilian girls dancing for them. It's like printing money.

I think it's a great idea for a local company to perhaps supplement other income. Get a solid, loyal customer base in your area of local athletes. Rent out a kiosk or open a small business space in a building and just hit the streets locally to put the word out.

Definitely could work to supplement an income and make some good side money, imo.

Anyone remember that meathead "needtogetaas"? He started a little supplement compounding biz and had a retail location near my house. Never bothered to go in. It never seemed like he was busy or anything. I'm not sure how much money is really to be made in that field unless your willing to invest a fortune and get on the shelves at gnc and vitamin world.

I'm pretty he has the supp company: needtobuildmuscle now...He's pimping it on some other boards.....

I agree, it's a tough business to break into...I think if you are going to do it online is the way to go but you need to have some big names backing your products for it to even get a second look.....

The supplement industry is a tough one to get into. Going up against the big dogs will cost some BIG money!! Anything is possible and you could be successful if you do things right,,,just be sure to deal with the right people and prepare for a big budget.

Yes , that's the one, I couldn't remember the name . He's on the ma./nh border.

The bastard banned me from elite fitness a few years back for bashing one of the advertisers. He was selling some weird pro hormone crap.
