Not sure how many of you watched the Bellator / Dynamite show last night...The main event was Tito Ortiz vs Liam McGeary (Champ)...McGeary beat Ortiz by triangle choke in the first round.

Anyway, the big announcement of the night was that Fedor would be fighting on New Years Eve...They brought him out and he did a brief interview. No opponent was named.

Personally, I think his best days are long behind him and he should stay retired.

Fedor Emelianenko returns to headline New Year's Eve card in Japan that will air on Spike TV - MMA Fighting

I thought Dana and him were in talks again about him joining UFC...He only signed a two fight contact so I wonder if this is to see if he still has it and it's worth him signing with the UFC?!

Pretty obvious fedor is not interested in the UFC and who knows if he could beat the top guys. Going to bellator is probably the best for him if he wants to get some wins

That is awesome!

I seen a special on the guy that owns Bellator.
He has money, connections, and some big plans for the company. I seen Randy couture on there saying he will be a part.

I think it's great. I hope
They give the UFC a run for the top spot.

Is there any "top guys" in the heavies there anymore...Seems they are all older fighters that are just passing the title around to each other?!

I agree...I think UFC is overrated and needs some competition...I miss Pride!

Out in the boondocks
I've been waiting for his return. IMO I believe he is one of the most gifted fighters ever to step into the ring. He's got a controlled ferociousness well probably never see again. I really hope he has the body to follow his mind. If so its going to be a great fight, if not it's going g to be another Gracie/Hughes slaughter.

I wonder if Couture will be the opponent? It's co-promoted with Dynamite (Japan) so the money may very well be there!

Unfortunately, I just can't get excited about Fedor again...I hope he doesn't try to fight in the UFC...The top heavyweights in there will crush him!!

Again, you guys keep saying the "top heavyweights" in the UFC would crush him...Who are these guys?!

These are the "top" 5 ranked heavies in the UFC:

Champ - Fabricio Werdum
1 - Cain Velasquez
2 - Junior Dos Santos
3 - Stipe Miocic
4 - Andrei Arlovski

Which one of these is actually a "major" threat and a "guaranteed" victory over Fedor?!

Aside from Arlovski, I think any of the other fighters you listed could beat him and Werdum already has.

Fedor is awesome! I would watch his fights if he comes back. I loved his non flashy No BS style.

I have not been real up to date on it. I think Fedor and any of those guys would be a great fight. He has One punch lights out power.

The one or two I seen him loose he was just caught in a submission. Never beat down, but has give plenty of beatings.

No Couture didnt act like he would be fighting.
I know the Guys that own Spike TV are also a part owner or maybe the majority owner. I will see if I can find that interview.
They plan on making better entrances, letting fighters have there own sponsors Vs UFC owning all rights etc

Scott Coker was the guys name they interviewed.
I think he is there "dana white"
Bellator is owned by Viacom (who owns spike TV)
I think there a 5 billion dollar company.

I found some interviews with Coker, and dana about Coker... But not the one I just seen.
I think it was on espn? Ill try and dig it up.

You're confused man...Like rAJ said none of his loses have been beat downs! Even the stoppage on the Silva match was bullshit because he wasn't even hurt and would have easily lasted to the end of that round with him on top.

The Werdum fight, Fedor dropped him in the first couple of seconds with a punch and Werdum was lucky enough to get him in an arm bar or else that match would have been over with a TKO for Fedor!

The Henderson fight was bullshit too...Henderson was able to reserve position when Fedor was pounding on him and within seconds the ref had stopped the fight while Fedor was still trying to roll and regain a guard position.

His only other loss ever was a doctor stoppage from an accidentally elbow at the very beginning of the fight busting his eye open back in 2000...Which doesn't even count as a fight.

NONE of those losses showed where Fedor was done in his career and all of them were left with Fedor pounding the shit out of the opponent and either making a mistake and getting caught in a submission or the ref stopping it overly early!

I'm confused...LOL! I was a huge Fedor fan when he was fighting! He had his time...His idiotic management, M1 Global, kept him from the UFC. They wanted to co-promote with the UFC...The UFC said no way and rightfully so. It would have been nice to see Fedor fight in the UFC much earlier in his career. He's a tough and skilled guy but I think his best days are behind him now. I still say anyone on that list aside from Arlovski would beat Fedor today.

sorry im late to the party but i also feel Fedor can beat any of those guys. he is just a machine. i cant wait for him to get a couple fights behind him and then hopefully his management will get him signed to some fight deals even if only a couple fights but against top current HW opponents or even better a 5 fight deal with the UFC and walk that list down and take the strap!

I wish Bellator the very best. I have lost a ton of respect for the UFC and those who operate it.

I always wanted to see Fedor fight Couture when Couture was still going strong. Shame it never happened.

I don't think Fedor would have a problem with any of the UFC Heavyweights.

The thing I have noticed though is that the guys coming from Pride that were ring fighters seemed to have a problem adapting to the cage and different type of rules?

Your so right. There is no new blood as I am not bashing the older fighters but it seems is the same scenario for example Dos Santos-Velasquez 3. I mean theydont have any or had any new talent in the HVYWT division in a very long time

Pride imho was the best. The fighters the rules it was a era that again imho is unmatched. I think(I don't know for certain) UFC went off of Pride just added the octagon and changed some rules. Just speculation on my end
