Doc says I have hypersensitivity to DHT

Recently I posted about going to the doctor for TRT therapy. Instead of starting me on TRT he decided to try Clomid to boost my natural test levels.

After three days of Clomid and not being able to sleep at night because I was urinating every one hour I stopped using it. After bringing this to his attention, he has concluded that I have a hypersensitivity to DHT.

This concerns me for a few reasons. First,I have BPH. As I assume most of you know, BPH is worsened with an increase of DHT.

Doc wishes to prescribe me Avodart or Finastride.

The question becomes Will either of these protect my prostate from a worsening of BPH?
And further, will it protect me sufficiently on the test TRT cycle I am about to begin?

Guess it's also worth noting in that both of those drugs have been known to lead to prostate cancer itself

Thanks for any knowledge you guys can share!

I would say hell no dont take it, does more harm than good, embrace being bald

I would also say that all men have prostate issues weather bald or not so I would think its more a matter of test dropping and estro increasing with old age but who knows....clomid is a estrogen more or less....

I would say just keep estrogen in check and youll be fine???

There's actually some newer research that suggests that BPH, prostate cancer, and other prostate issues are caused not by DHT, but by a buildup of estrogen and estrogen metabolites in the prostate over a prolonged period of time.

To that end, it might be worth trying a low dose suicidal AI(Aromasin) for a few months, along with a natural estrogen metabolizer like DIM.

I'm going to run super low test doses with Arimidex and see how I fair.

Thanks brother.

I saw similar studies from Harvard that are also now suggesting that TRT helps BPH and prostate cancer. Very much similar to what you are saying.

Thanks brother.

I would suggest Aromasin over Arimidex as an AI. AROMASIN isn't as hard on the lipid levels as Arimidex is. No reason to cause another issue while trying to mitigate the first one.

Roger that!

Finding it seems challenging...perhaps a helpful brother may PM me:headbang:

Yeah no finasteride or avoadart if possible
Use 5mg cialis daily its known to reduce bph.

Avodart prevents the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. This medication may be available in generic form. Common side effects include sexual problems (such as decreased sexual interest/ability, decrease in the amount of semen/sperm), increased breast size, or breast tenderness.

Already on the cialis. Have been for years.

I think it most definitely has a distinct connection to higher
estrogen levels in aging males.

You're absolutely right. One of the big issues that most people aren't aware of is not just estrogen itself, but the metabolites of estrogen. Estrogen has 3 main metabolites; 2 of which are, for lack of a better term, bad. Even if estrogen levels are kept in range, an abundance of the 2 bad metabilites can still cause health issues. Prostate health issues is one of the manifestations of these negative metabilites.

What are the countermeasures to the metabolites?

Keeping estrogen in a healthy range is the first step. A good diet with lots of fruits and especially cruciferous veggies helps as well. The best supplement for it is diindolylmethane, commonly called DIM. it supports healthy estrogen metabolism, and especially helps skew the meatbolism of estrogen in favor of the positive 2-hydroxy metabolite, and decreases levels of the "bad" 16-hydroxy metabolite. 200-400mg of DIM a day is usually recommended for men to help support positive estrogen metabolism.

Also, for the women out there that suffer severe PMS or menstrual issues, DIM has been shown to help relieve some of those issues as well. It helps to correct the estrogen imbalance that leads to the severe physical symptoms of PMS. it helped my girlfriend immensely when she started taking it. The cramping, bloating, weight gain, irritability and extreme mood swings that she/we suffered through for years during PMS and her menses have been helped tremendously. They haven't been completely eliminated, but are much more manageable and are not the life altering issues that they once were. Women usually take approximately 100mg/day.

That would stand in contrast to hundreds of studies- I can't see that holding water to be honest.
