I think getting blood work done in regards to AAS is deff more of a thing that has become more popular over the last 5-10yrs specially now that there are more HRT/TRT clinics available. The thing I have ran into is sometimes it gets a little pricey depending on the situation and insurance and also it’s a pain in the ass to have a dr for hormone related stuff and also a general physician. I was told by a friend who is a dr that if you disclose to your general physician that you are taking anabolic steroids they will most likely code you as a drug abuser and it can effect your life insurance and possibly insurance coverage depending on health issues that might arise. This was from a dr mouth and not just hearsay so I have no reason to not believe him.

So what do you guys do for blood work and how often? I think this is good to talk about because everyone is always like go get blood work but not often is it talked about where or when people do it.

I have never told a doctor that I was ever on.
And I would never - I am a firm believer that they will label you.

Laws vary depending on where you live. I think NY has the strictest laws on getting bloodwork done without a Doctors order. Most other places you can just book an appointment online with a company like Labcorp and get it done, no problem. There was a thread not long ago with links to a couple different testing companies. Scroll down toward the bottom of the page in this forum, you’ll find it.

I never tell my Doc anything either. I’m going to be retiring in a few years and I’ll have to change insurance at that point. I don’t want anything to cause any problems in the future. Twice a year I get my standard labs done at my Doc when I’m not on. The rest I get done at my expense through private testing. It’s just one of the expenses that comes with responsible gear use. Gotta pay to play.

I checked out the website. Which panel do you recommend ordering?

Privatemedlabs

Personally I’ve used the Lc/ms-ms lab so I get an uncapped test level.

I do this one a couple times a yr.
it a decent comprehensive lab

I try to get blood work done at least twice per year. It's important to get it done in the middle of a cycle to see what damage things are doing.

I always try to get it done before a blast and if I can sometime during a blast as well. The main things I worry about are my red blood count, cholesterol and kidneys. The more you can get tested the better though.

Blood work is very important and I try to get tested 2-3 times per year. The issue is some of the tests I want to get are very expensive or not offered. My main concern is my heart and bloodwork is not enough so I would like to get a full heart scan at some point in the future. I get tested 2-3 times for peace of mind though. As someone else posted getting tested in the middle of a blast is recommended. Blood pressure is another important thing to keep on top of as well.

I looked into that and as expected it is expensive and insurance won't cover it unless you have a good reason to get scanned. It would be great to have a full body MRI just to see if there are any issues.

It wasn't until I started getting blood work did I learn the true effects certain aas have on me. Bloodwork is limited but still some things I can dose quite high and my bloodwork comes back fine. Whereas other aas mainly orals my hct and hgb goes up, liver enzymes go up, hdl goes down and ldl goes up. That is even true for orals that many consider mild such as anavar.

I get all the usual things tested every 3-4 months. I want to get more things tested soon. I would like to know about all levels of vitamins and minerals in my body.
