Guess what I got for my birthday. Laid off. And yes I just bought a new house. I'm not letting my wife see me sweat it but I'm pretty nervous. Here's the short of the long story.

I'm a union carpenter but I work for a company. I don't rely on the union for work. We have been slow but not much to worry about until I had a talk with the owners. I didn't think that it was right to give about 11 hours to get paid for 8. I come in at 5 to load trucks, drive to the site and start at 7. The day ends at 3:30 when I drive back to the shop and unload. I'm could be done anywhere from 4:30 to 6. I don't get paid for that time. I new that if I brought this up there would be negative repercussions. Now all of a sudden there is no work until the 13th of June.
I hate that I have to rely on these pricks for work. What kind of people would screw with a guy and his family over a situation like this. I have seen them do this to others but I hoped it wouldn't happen to me. Damn was I wrong.

Bummer Blackbird. I hope things work out for you. Worrying about your next meal coming in can really suck. Hang in there bro!
