So, I'm gona run an obstacle race called Tough Viking in about a month.
I have trained for this for about 3 months now and really think that I can complete the race with a good time.

This is the race (translated with google).

"On Sunday, September 1, 2013 is the premiere of Swedish guaranteed toughest, most spectacular and most enjoyable race Tough Viking.

The course consists of 12 kilometers filled with 15 brutal obstacles designed by specialists in Coastal Jaeger Company. The barriers are designed to give participants a really tough challenge and consists of barbed wire creep, containers with ice bath, mud bath , monkey bar, electric wires, climbing walls, tunnels, high walls, etc.

The inspiration for this race comes from the successful "Obstacle Races" in the United States and
England, which has had over 1 million participants. However, we can guarantee that this race is both harder and more fun.

Compete individually or in teams. The team may have more than 4 people, but it's just the 4 best times on the team that counts. We decline to people with heart problems enrolling because electric wires."

My question is, have anyone of you run an obstacle race?
And do you have any thoughts of what supplement that could be effective during a race like this?

Aqua,
I have done a couple of spartan races which sound very similar. It is a lot of climbing hills, running, wall climbing, crawling and jumping. I am a big boy and came in average time overall. But if you've been training three months you should do well. I trained by doing hi intensity cardio and lots of body weight work. Its definitely challenging. But one thing Is that most everything else you do after that will seems easy. ;)
As for supplements I avoided any stims thanks to the fellas here. I used a NO drink with a little caffeine only. My heart rate was elevated plenty and didn't need anything that might make it more elevated. Good Luck Broth a! Have fun.

Okey thanks for your respond Bob!
I take 1 stackers (100mg coffein,50mg ephedrin and 50mg Dmaa)when I running now, and it feels alright.

What time did you do on your best race?
I'll be glad if I do it under 2 hours.

My best time was 2.16 for a four mile in a ski resort. All up hills and rocks. For me at 280 it was good. The last one was worse. They changed the course and it was all rock climbing and the temp was 92. I threw up at the end. I did 2.34 in that one. But out of the overall 12000 people that did it and my time was average. So I was happy. It seems like the lighter people do better in time but have a harder time with the strength obstacles which most of the bulkier bodybuilder types do well with. Just an observation.

Okey, I've lost a lot of gain now with this training.
I hade to quit with aas as well when my wife found out.
So my weight now is like 170lbs..
I think that the length isn't any problem, just the strength obstacles as you saying.

Did you have any bandage around your arms, fingers etc for better grip when you did the race?
I mean, to help your joints at your fingers, it's some obstacle when grip is kind of important.

I hope you understand my crapy English :)

I'm from NYC and my English is crappy too! I wore gloves the last race and they did help my grip. Otherwise I wore really long knee length socks to prevent too many scrapes and cuts. I got tore up the first time. At 170 you'll do great. You'll fly over walls and under shit. Climbing rope sucks. It is wet and slippery over much of the course. My brothers did it with me and they are 200 lbs. And they had an easier time of it.

Out in the boondocks
I've done a couple. As some mentioned, weight training along with high intensity cardio helps considerably. I also ran gw 501516 for 6 weeks whiched helped my cardio considerably. Consider wearing gloves, Mad Gripz are great for this. Also wear under armour type clothing and dont wear cotton socks. Energy gel packets are light and easy to take with you if you need a quick burst of energy. Good luck

Thanks Magnus for your input!
I googled mad grips now, and I could see that it's very common in these types of races.
I'll think I have to order from U.S becouse I couldn't found any store here in Sweden :/
I will also definitely think about the socks, I hadn't got a thought of that :O..

I think that I just will wear shorts during the race, just becouse the mud and water that will soak the clothes.
So almost naked is to prefere ^^
