What is the science behind the bar being on an angle on the newer models of smith machines?...if you bench with it the bar travels back across your face!...squatting too has its biomechanic issues!...WHY?...

When benching the bar doesn't travel straight up. It goes at a slight angle for most from their lower chest to more above the face at lockout. I find that they often have the machines facing to wrong direction for people that look into the mirror while using them.

The bar moves in a straight line when I bench...how about shoulder presses or squats...it does not feel right when doing those two exercises...

The smith machine is great for certain exercises, but I wouldn’t include bench press or squats in that group.
