vB is gone forever.
Updates and patches were stopped years back which is why the forums experienced the attacks they did for that time period, with many now being gone forever.
xF is a much safer format for the forums.

Though I agree, vB was much more user friendly when it came to admin functions.
Everything else is pretty much customizable for the user.
