Hey, I figured some of you guys have experience with buchner funnels.
Right now I'm using a Millipore Sterifil funnel/filter holder assembly, it uses 47mm filter membranes. I've been looking to upgrade to something with more filter diameter, as some of the stuff I've been filtering has both been taking a long time, as well as just plain clogging the filters before it gets through 250ml.
So my question is, for those who have used buchner funnels, how reliable are they really for the purposes of filtering down to ~0.2um for sterility? It's hard to imagine them being as reliable as a system like the Sterifil, but I've got no experience with them. If the buchner funnel is reliable in that regard, it'll be nice to forego the added expense of a 90mm system similar to the Sterifil.
